There is great pleasure to be had in rereading a favorite book, or watching again a great movie, or visiting one's parents and the home grown up in. If with a joyful temperance we acknowledge our attachment to the formative movements that govern our lives we can appreciate the shape of that which we are and perhaps glimpse a shape of things to come.
Recently while reading I came across a passage that put me in mind of a thought that my grandfather relayed to me. Not in so many words, but in so many words, and gestures, and in his presence. He's been gone for quite some time. Yet the thought endures that he was a gentleman whose manner was preserved in his conduct. This it would be well to emulate.
